TWO WINTER WARDROBES ESSENTIALS YOU MUST HAVE

Every season has its must-have wardrobe items, and in winter, it’s all about being warm while remaining stylish. Let’s say, hypothetically, that you need only two winter wardrobes essentials in your closet this winter, or at least, they would be a great start to build the perfect wardrobe for the cold days.. do you know what would you pick?

My two winter wardrobes essentials this season are, without a shadow of a doubt, the ones I am wearing today: wool herringbone coat and a light colour oversized jumper, both from Opus.

Let me tell you why! Classic, timeless, smart buy. These two are the definite items that are outlasting the seasonal trends!

I think the best is compiling a seasonal collection of essential items that effortlessly synchronise with your year-round go-to-pieces. Both to invest in a wardrobe update and to give you layering options for the cold temperatures which are coming soon.

Nothing says off-duty chic like a good quality crew neck sweater, like this one I am wearing from Opus. This chic layering piece can be as easy to dress up as it is to dress down. This sweater looks great worn on its own or with a collared white shirt and goes with everything including jeans, skirts, structured trousers and leather pants!

In winter your outwear is the most important aspect of your wardrobe. To me, the herringbone detail remains the most chic of all. There’s something about the print that is so quintessentially british and I love the fact that there’s always a masculine side in it.

With these two items your winter-style can’t go wrong. And the cool thing is, trust me on this, you’ll wear these next year as well.. 😉

MY LIVING ROOM: A COMPLETE TOUR

We are finally (almost) done with our living room and loving it! The style of the room is what I call ‘scandinavian vibe with a vintage touch’ and I am very curious to hear how you like it.

The sofa, cushions, glass lamp and side table are from Fest Amsterdam. I received them already a few weeks ago but I wanted to wait to show you until the whole room was styled up. Especially the sofa, is exactly what we wanted.. a modern design with a beautiful finish and comfortable seating. Its main feature is the large seat and stitching along each side. It’s stylish and of a great quality at the same time. Something durable towards the years. The cushions are the cherry on top to stick to our colour palette and style. So many of you already asked me about them on Instagram stories, so here you can find again the direct link to them!

The glass lamp and side table are quite statement pieces in the living room. I love how simple they are, with a touch of colour. The lamp is pink glass with a solid white marble foot. It really brights up the living room with a special glow. The side table was created in collaboration with the Dutch designer Floris Hovers. It can be used both as a stool and side table. The natural wood is combined with playful colours, which makes it a timeless addition to our living room.

Finally, the blue persian faded rug makes a beautiful contrast with all the plants and flowers, which I am slowly filling all the living room in. I just love having a lot of greens, I think it makes the house very warm.

We are still looking for two vintage leather chairs, caramel colour to place in front of the sofa and then we will be done. What do you think?

Stay tuned on my Instagram later this week because a great surprise is coming for you! You can win one of these decor pieces for your own home from Fest Amsterdam!

HOW 3 COLOURED WALLS ELEVATED MY NEW INTERIOR

Today’s post marks the beginning of a whole lot of interior content coming to the blog with my new home! The first thing I am going to show you is the colour palette we picked for our house coloured walls by Farrow & Ball! I am very excited to share with you all the steps of the decoration and hopefully keep you inspired on interior pieces and choices, beside my regular fashion posts 🙂

As you probably saw over the past week on my Instagram stories, we finally moved into the new house! (Big Yayyy!!) It’s not nearly close to be finished, but it’s good enough to be able to live in it. I don’t mind to take our time to finish with the decorations. I really want to wait until we find the pieces we love, instead of rushing and hopping from one furniture shop to another and ending up not being completely satisfied!

I’ve spent the past five month (since we bought the house) ‘pinteresting’ tons of interior images with the aim of making up my mind of what I really wanted. After the big refurbishment project was done and it came finally the time to start deciding on the interior, the first big decision was about the coloured walls we wanted in the house. I do like white (in fact the first floor it’s a whole lot of white, including the staircases and the wooden floors) but for the living areas (dining room, living room and guests/studio floor) and Emma’s bedroom I decided I wanted some coloured walls to add some character.

Luckly, Menno and I, both like a scandinavian vibe when it comes to interior so the decision on the coloured walls wasn’t too hard. We decided we wanted different shades of grey which ended up to look a divine contrast with the oak floor and a feminine colour for Emma’s bedroom, but not too girly. The coloured walls had to be a stement part of those rooms so I immediately thought of Farrow & Ball after hearing so many good things about the brand and falling in love with their paint colours. The light grey we picked is an understated stone grey, called Purbeck Stone, while for the contrast dark wall we picked a soft black with blue undertones, called Railings. The colour of Emma’s bedroom is a wildly romantic rose pink, called Cinder Rose.

Honestly, this was a first for me and I had no idea we had to decide so many details beside the colours of the walls! What kind of paint was the best to be used, what finish or primer we needed, how many square meters we wanted to paint. There was no way I could sort out all of these information by myself and get the right paint if it wasn’t for the ‘Advice’ page on Farrow & Ball website and “How to Decorate” very inspiring book (by Studholme & Charlotte Cosby). Their website helped us calculating the paint quantities and the finishes we needed. They also offer a In-Home colour consultancy where you can meet Farrow & Ball experts. How cool is that!

I hope you like the result as much as we do!!

{TREND REPORT} TOP 5 YELLOW SWEATERS FOR FALL

Yellow is one of the biggest trends of the Fall and the mustard yellow in particular is my very favourite!

But first, a little personal life update..

Today is going to be my last day at the office for at least a week to concentrate on our big move! I can’t believe it’s finally happening.. and I can’t even imagine how busy and overwhelming the coming days will be! Packing, cleaning, organising, unpacking.. but finally we are going to move and I’ve been waiting for this time for the past 4 months!! I am going to share everything with you on my Instagram stories, so don’t forget to follow along! 🙂

Fall is one of my favourite seasons. I love the cooler weather that allows layering but still going out bare legs. And still not the Amsterdam freezing days! And I love wearing knitwear!

I already started picking a few key pieces for fall and have been loving yellow knits for the upcoming season, like the one I am wearing today (which I recently found at Topshop)!

Check out my top 5 picks below:

  • TOPSHOP: the one I am wearing. I fell in love with the seventies vibe of the big buttons and the mustard shade;
  • ASOS: a knitted ruffle jumper is a must have this fall;
  • RIVER ISLAND: a three quarter double frill sleeve in knit fabric is a great idea for a more dressy look. This one would look great with palazzo trousers and heels! And it’s on sale too!
  • SAMSOE & SAMSOE ON NA-KD: a golden yellow with braided and criss cross detailing and an oversized fit.
  • PRETTYLITTLETHING: I like the super ladder distress V neck. This one would look very cool layered with a simple white t-shirt and boyfriend jeans.

FINALLY FOUND THE PERFECT FIT JEANS!

Finding the ‘perfect fit jeans’ that gives credit to all of ours right places can be a real mission impossible. Today I did the job for you and if you continue reading, hopefully this article will make your research much shorter and your life a little easier!

People who think, ‘jeans is just jeans’, really don’t understand that the perfect fit jeans can totally improve your outfit and your confidence in wearing it! I wear denim 7 days a week and I think so far I’ve tried it all!

When I’ve teamed up with Wrangler to show you their latest collection, the ‘body bespoke’, I didn’t expect to get so impressed by their new line! The collection offers jeans styled for each size to give everybody that shape they were looking for! What I loved the most is that they’re high waisted and with the right amount of stretch without awkwardly squashing my butt.  The pockets are placed exactly on the right position and have a smooth straight leg without being too skinny. This is what I call the perfect fit jeans!

Wrangler have developed a unique technology in the jeans industry that defines the most flattering proportion and position for the back pockets and seams, creating jeans that perfectly fit all women giving equal attention to every size.

We shot these pictures in Ibiza this week and thinking that ‘two is always better than one’ we decided of shooting together with Iris to show you two different pairs of the Wrangler Bespoke Collection and beside the pleasant result, we had a great fun!
