SNAPCHAT OR INSTAGRAM STORIES?

When Instagram introduced Stories, we all (aka social media fanatics) got kind of excited! Then we found ourself in a limbo.. What’s now about Snapchat?

My first reaction was on using both platforms. On Instagram I have a much larger audience but at them same time I find Snapchat more fun.

After of couple of days of twinning I found myself bored of sharing the same moments on two platforms, a joke said twice wasn’t maybe than funny anymore and most of the time the moment was gone by the time I was switching..

At the moment I am leaving Snapchat behind. Apparently I can still survive without a puppy face 😉 I might check in here and then but you will mainly find me on Instagram Stories.

I do not share myself brushing my teeth or tidying the house – that’s why they are called highlights, right? I share daily what’s behind the scene of my blog, my life with Emma, recommend places I visit, events and anything related to fashion.

I did enjoy a lot sharing with you this week the behind the scene of this post created with Scotch & Soda. In case you missed it, I visited the Blauw kitchen in the Pijp area on Tuesday, the cutest denim concept store. I tried on the whole Amsterdam Blauw collection and loved receiving your messages about your favourite pieces! The messages I loved the most were the ones saying that ‘it was like spending the day shopping with me’.

I feel that now on Instagram we can really tell the full story behind an outfit shot. The day of the photo shoot, I loved sharing videos of the details of the clothes, the contrast colour lining of the shirt and coat, the shining details of the sweater, the ‘love’ patch on the inside of the denim and the quality of the fabrics.

I picked pieces which really reflect my style. The simplicity of a boyfriend jeans paired with a striped shirt and a contrasting striped coat was the ones which immediately caught my attention at the store. I put them together for you in a very wearable way for this end of summer transitional weather.. when we already want to jump into the fall colour palette but cannot leave behind our statement sandals.

This week I became very fond of Scotch & Soda, so surely I will show you more of this Blauw collection very soon.. In the meantime, see you on Instagram Stories and who knows, until the day the funny filters will make an appearance, I might not resist checking in Snapchat now and then!

ME TIME

Today I am talking about that little bit of time for yourself..

I’ve always been a very social person, feeling at best in the middle of people, with my friends, attending events, dinner parties, clubs, late evenings. When I became a mother, this naturally changed. I still love my social life, as hard to organise as it sounds, but still possible.. Now, I also started to really enjoy those rare moments with myself.

I treasure every moment with Emma and besides blogging, the past year I’ve been a full time mom (Emma will start daycare three days a week in September) but recharging my batteries and especially refreshing my spirit by taking some time to myself on a regular basis was the key.

One of my favourite things to do by myself is to try out new coffee spots in the city (this is HALTE 3) while Emma spends some time with her father and I spend time with me, myself and I..

Of course this time is counted by the minute so a good cappuccino in a beautiful cafe and some well deserved ‘silence’ is all I need. Actually, what I also need is a good bunch of pretty accessories with me.. and my new Timex watch is perfect to scan those precious moments and make sure I am home in time to see Emma’s smiling face when she sees me coming back.

I chose a man watch model because I really like the tan colour of the strap at the moment, the big size and I love to wear it with contrasting feminine jewellery.

Till the next cappuccino then.. my little tip of the day, if you are a mother or you are planning to be one day.. while you are enjoying the blessing of motherhood, never forget the time for yourself!

COZY KNIT AND NEW BEGINNINGS

The new year is here and first of all I want to wish you all a great 2016 and thank you for sticking with me for almost two years now. It’s been two years full of changes both with blogging and with my personal life. As you know, and for the ones who don’t know, in 2015 a lot happened. Becoming a mother received all my attention but also we got engaged and finally moved from London to Amsterdam.

Due to circumstances, I had to leave my blog a bit behind but I knew this was going to change. In 2016 we have a wedding to organise in Italy and I intend to focus on making Amsterdam my new ‘home’, redecorating our apartment and potentially buying a bigger one but most of all taking blogging to the next level, focusing on it full time together with taking care of little baby Emma Maaike.

We are working on a brand new website releasing soon which I am super excited about, I will be based in a new workspace this week at #workmode, we have new new exciting projects lined up, I am planning to attend London and Milan fashion weeks in February and I will share all this with you daily on the blog and on my socials!

I am very excited about these new beginnings but for this weekend, I am still cozying up at home in my current favourite chunky knit, snuggling my baby who is fighting her first cold and browsing through the winter sales in front of the fireplace.
