MY FAVOURITE COAT CHOICES THIS WINTER

Baby it’s cold outside! This is the period of the year we start thinking of which winter coat we want to see ourselves through the cold months ahead. Of course the outfit underneath is still very important (without counting the early morning coffee run in our PJs) but the coat is all we show all day every day, at least for the next 3 months or probably 5 if you live in The Netherlands..

The fun part is to pick out which trend will keep us warm this season!

The one I am wearing today is from French Connection. It’s the perfect fall coat! I am loving the short length for a casual look, the trendy frayed edging and loose fit.

Obviously, my idea of staying cozy and warm doesn’t end here. Actually it just started! I rounded up for you my favourite outwear trends of this winter season:

  • Faux Fur, adore this comfy volume, especially in the light colour. This is destinated to become one of the most coveted winter trends this A/W ’16.
  • Shearling Moto Jacket, for an outwear game strong! A tough-luxe take on the biker staple.
  • Menswear Inspired Long Coat, for the love of classics, the double-breasted style is back this season. My favourites colours are the grey, green and navy. To be super trendy, H&M also offers a low budget one which I love too.
  • Puffy Jacket, bff of the snowy days! Finally our moms won’t be worried we will be cold this winter and for once we won’t let her ‘down’ 😉

The thought of colder days is not that bad, after all.

PAJAMA TREND: HOW I MANAGED TO LOVE IT

Have you ever thought before the 2016 pajama trend boom, to leave the house in your nightwear and still feel fabulous?

Pajama dressing can definitely be tricky and I was surprised to discover how much I am actually loving it and appreciate the comfort and elegance of wearing silk. Inspired by the catwalks of Celine and Balenciaga but not exactly jumping in it both feet.. This means, I am not wearing the full set. Instead, I tried to think how I could make the pajama trend more wearable and inspirational also for you.

As long as I love trends, I didn’t dare to wear the pajama full set out in the streets. If you do, I would make sure to add sleek accessories to complete your look! You don’t want people to think you just rolled out of bed!

I am wearing the panama set separate. You can take a look on how I styled the blouse on my Instagram and now, the pants paired with a chunky knit to make it look less pajama and more comfy-chic.

I thought I would never argue with a fashion trend which privileges comfort. I have to admit that this one can be quite tricky.. While styling these outfits, I thought the best way of feeling good in it, was mixing and matching with my wardrobe staples.

Finally, some things I learnt by pulling of the pajama trend and tips for you:

  • If you are going to choose a full pajama set, go 100% silk. It will add more chicness and less weirdness 😉
  • Choose sleek accessories. You will look more elegant and the focus won’t all go on your nightwear but will spread around your whole outfit.
  • Mix and match with you favourite wardrobe staples. It will make you feel and look more comfortable in it.

Now, it’s time to elevate your nighware and set it free to the streets of your own city!

VISUAL DIARY OF A PARISIAN MORNING

It was a Monday morning 2 weeks ago with Lorna, lots of strolling around Paris, many cappuccinos in Trocadero and thousands of pictures taken.

Just the way we like it.

WHERE I FIND MY OUTFIT INSPIRATIONS

I never have enough of casual chic looks, that’s who I am. A casual look elevated by feminine pieces and designer accessories is always what defines my personal style and it’s something that has evolved over the years.

Curious to find out when my inspiration is coming from?

Straight leg vintage Levi’s (legit from a vintage store and frayed hem operated by my scissors on my living room table) and new Gucci loafers paired with the latest cut white shirt trend (more here), layered with my beloved black leather jacket.

I do follow trends but I never wear clothes I don’t feel good or comfortable in.. That’s why, for me,  there are never enough white shirts, off shoulder tops and layer of necklaces at the moment. The one I am wearing today from Dressfo is the perfect combination!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMER

Good part of my time is spent into researching images from the web, magazines, tumblr, Instagram.. In order to be on top of the fashion game I think daily inspiration is vital. Sometimes I bump into an image that in reality would so not be my vibe, but it links to something else and generated a new inspiration. For a long time I didn’t use Pinterest and I am so happy to be on it again and I if you want to see where my main inspiration is stored you can follow my collection of images here.
