ANIMAL PRINT LOVE

Apology for being away from the blogsphere for the last week. Too long. I know. I enjoyed myself on the italian riviera so no chance to bring along my mac since my feet were constantly in the water.
At the same time I hope you enjoyed my little break if you already follow me on Instagram (If not @nickyinsideout is the destination since I am going back to Italy in a couple of weeks).
On a different note, back to the city, back in the game.
I have been invited to show my #animalprintlove, so I take the opportunity to show you how I include the feline print in my outfit staying chic yet effortless. I like to mix animal prints together such as leopard and python or zebra and python but I always keep it a max of 2 prints war.
I select the animal print pieces in a mixture of fabrics: silk, cotton, lurex, pony skin or leather .. But never wear 2 of the same together.
Animal prints could easily degenerate to flashy by bringing the look to an exaggerate sexy level .. So I dressed it down with birks slides.
Finally I sported a python print accessory with my red DVF which breaks the colour palette.

THE PACKING SKILL

If you think about it, what to pack is quite a question mark that follow us for weeks before the holidays. Being able to pack exactly what you need can be considered a ‘form of art’. To actually pack the perfect bag and to make it in a hand luggage, it is a rare skill!
I used to be the worst one. I could have run away with that luggage, and never came back, and I would have had everything I needed . . for months! For a week off, I used to pack as much as if I were there for the full summer. Insane.
What made me re-think my packing ritual was:
1. The time I could have saved checking in and out the airport.
2. The fact I used to come home and realise I wore a third of the clothes I packed with me.

Now I only carry a 10Kg top small suitcase and compact according to the size of that bag. Luckily, my holidays are mainly sun seeking so this doesn’t require a lot of clothes.
Shoeless luxury and beachside absolute means that swimwear rules.

I build my holiday wardrobe around a statement piece or two which can take me day to night. This time was a shirt dress and culottes.

The second skill needed is the ability of mix and match.
Worst case scenario, if my plan fails, here in Italy you do not even need to drive downtown. Even the little side boutiques stock designers . . It’s the country of style after all!

THEY CALL IT #BRITISHSUMMER

I am very aware of the fact that I’ve been moaning a lot about the weather lately. All the blame goes to my Italian heritage and the reality is that I grow up and lived for 20 years in a place where from mid April for almost 6 months you spend every spare minute of your life on the beach .. early morning walk on the beach, breakfast on the beach, lunch, hanging out, aperitivo, dinner, parties . . the beach is always involved, and the sun!
So yeah, I believe I am a little justified.
On a positive note, I came up for you with a bit of an outfit inspiration of what to wear in the ‘city where it always rains’, aka RainyLand . . I put on a trench coat but I didn’t drop the white summer look.
The next outfit post is going to be from Italy . . Now we are talking!!

MIX IT UP

Either you are a floral expert or a new born, like me, (and I will probably go back to my colour-non-colour palette after this fun adventure) wear the print with block semblance or find an appropriate background ..
I went for total black this time but you can try with white as well for a fearless manner to style florals.

FLOWER POWER

The one and only flower piece of my closet! It took me some time to understand if I was going nuts or just risk-taking .. Must have been the black background to catch my attention since it hit the stores. I believe it can work either with total plain black, plain white or denim. Let’s see!!
