Having said about a billion times how much I love summer, you can only imagine the joy of taking Emma for a month to Italy to the places where I grew up! It’s my favourite time of the year and I love that Ravenna offers so many different beach clubs and places to hang out just a quick car ride away from each other. From the ones we prefer to go only for dinner or aperitivo, to the more relaxed ones where we’ve been spending our days to nights.

If you are following me on Instagram (@nickyinsideout) and snap chat (username: nickyinsideout) you have seen my day to day life already.. but this time I wanted to take the chance of also showing you my favourite places (in case you will want to head there on holiday some day) along with what I’ve been wearing..

Because, as a blogger, a holiday is never a real holiday (I mean no phone, no emails.. not happening!) I needed extra protection for my beloved iPhone to survive its 24/7 shift and I opted for 2 different phone cases from OtterBox this time!

So yes, take a pick at my favourite spots, and outfits to go with it, and I hope to see you there one summer day!!

Il Baretto – Marina Romea (Ravenna). A drink on the sand, with good music under the sky. We like to come here to spend some good time with friends where the atmosphere is really chilled out and you don’t need a change of clothes after a day at the beach.

Cala Celeste – Lido Adriano (Ravenna). Cutest location to spend another day at the beach which can end into a more intimate dinner by the sea. The restaurant offers a more original and sophisticated menu. The location is amazing and having dinner few meters away from the seaside is priceless.

Sol y Mar – Riccione. It’s a small cozy restaurant on the beach. Great ambience and adorable atmosphere, original menu and on-the-beach seating. Was highly recommended by a good friend and the one hour drive from Ravenna was well worth it.

Singita – Marina di Ravenna. My 6pm aperitivo on the beach it’s been a must of this holiday. The fun atmosphere, the tables replaced by blankets on the beach.. Feet on the sand, good music and delicious free appetisers.. The italian way!

If I have to name a trend I wanted to try for a while now, is kitten heels.

The matter was just about finding the right ones for me.. Not too classic, not too girly and not too feminine! (So, would you say, ‘just go for a different style’!? No, I didnt give up!)

It was quite the challenge and it went on for several months until I bumped into these Sargossa beauties!

The key is the ankle boot shape and the statement detail as a spider web that made me feel cool rather than girlie! I paired them with my distressed boyfriend jeans which I am feeling is becoming my forever essential summer and winter. I kept a soft colour palette of denim and white since I wanted to highlight the detail of the shoes, but also add a feminine touch with the flare sleeve, mainly to break the hardness of the distressed denim.

Comfortable footwear is not strange on this blog and my life.. a collection of white sneakers, flats and even birkestock sandals over the summer.. So when I find a pair that is cool, trendy and comfy at the same time, it simply have to be mine! To let you taste the feeling, is like having the support of a high heel but with the comfort of a flat.. Doesn’t it sound like the best combo??

Now that the weather is – supposed to be – warming up – and we really enjoyed summer temperatures back in Venice two weeks ago – it’s finally time to start talking summer fashion!

If you are seeking for inspiration, have already been stalking instagram streetsyle stars, devouring vogue and any sort of fashion magazines, pinteresting spring/summer trends, I am sure you have been told to buy at least one white shirt!

Fashion trends speaking, Spring/Summer ’16 is definitely going to make our life easy because who doesn’t own a white shirt?? The good news is that the most coveted item for this coming summer, is most probably already sitting in your closet! I mean.. How cool is that?? You can be trendy while saving money!

Now, if you don’t feel like investing in a new piece, fair enough!

You can still be owning a latest trend piece with what you already own or even borrow from the boyfriend.. hopefully your boyfriend is a good big size so you can sport the oversized look! Otherwise, if you feel like a shopping afternoon of fun or some indoor shopping moments at your laptop, you can upgrade your shirt game. In this case, and it’s my favourite part, the shopping part, what you should bare in mind and make sure to strike a goal are white shirt dresses, cold shoulder shirts, big bell sleeves or oversized shapes.

My passion is to show you how we can wear each season top trends in a realistic way. But let’s be honest, sometimes designers make it pretty hard for us non-models walking the city streets instead of the catwalks.. We are mere mortals after all, aren’t we?? So I am super excited this spring since one of the main trends was already one of my favourite and wardrobe staples! What’s best to wear in spring/summer than a white shirt?? This closet classic is shaping up in so many possible choices, one of my favourites being this Lemon-B shirt dress I layered underneath a leather jacket during my latest trip to Venice.

A big yes to this ultra-accessible trend!!

HOW I STYLE MY CASUAL LOOKS

There is something about putting on a pair of distressed denim and a t-shirt that just feels so right! But the thing is, you don’t want to feel underdressed.

There is never too much fuss about my outfits, mainly because I think simplicity is always the main key to a good look. Add in your latest sneakers addiction, denim trend and favourite jacket and you are in for a perfect casual look.

My way of styling a casual outfit is to always add chic details. This time being my Chanel jumbo and new Lucky Eyes jewellery.

Basically, I always ask myself ‘what makes this look special?’ And to me, the special bit is added by one or two max statement pieces.. an edgy pair of shoes, a pretty bag, or some special jewellery. This is where all the attention will go!

The good thing is that, with the right details, you will never feel underdressed for a pretty restaurant or a daily event/meeting even wearing sneakers.. it’s very modern and cool!

Writing today’s post from Italy on my birthday in a total state of happiness! Emma is asleep next to me, my boyfriend is flying in from Amsterdam, I am getting ready to go out to celebrate with my friends and family, and a birthday trip to Venice is coming on Monday.

As a thirty-something girl, together with my lifestyle, also my style is adjusting and becoming more stable. This means less trend-experimenting and more awareness of what my own style is about. If you ask me what I will be wearing this spring summer I answer, without a shadow of a doubt, my closet will be made of denim, whites, black and tan colours. I went through a lot of ‘fashion stages’ and it took me about thirty years to become so firm on my own taste but there are some combos that never get olds.

While it’s tempting to wear my boyfriend jeans all day every day, it doesn’t hurt to shape up the denim game introducing a skirt and pairing it with a different wash denim shirt and statement OTK boots. Finally, I am not the kind of girl who likes to look too sexy, especially during the day, so I felt very comfortable adding a black knit to dress down the entire look and giving a chic touch added by the gold details.
